Please delete this thread if I over explain items.
Everyone on this forum and everyone who has been on ICE has one thing in common. We ALL miss it.
The real question is WHY do we miss it?
1. Reliablility: The filehosts that are linked have been heavily tested and function amazingly well when you consider the bandwidth requirements. If one is slow, another always picks up the slack. Most filehosts couldnt hold up for an hour and at most a couple days. Anyone who was here when MEGA shut down understands the incredible amount of time, effort, and true dedication this community has. Mega helped give us access to virtually everything. Ice had to be completely revamped. It was incredible.
2. Quality: 99% of the links are to the correct content (a few mistakes but rare) most sites stumble on this point. The aspect ratio is almost always correct. Ever see sites where all the vids are squished into CRT squares on flash players? No cam movies, no tweaking of crap cams, the lowest quality you will see are from the occasional screeners or chinese subtitles. You know that if its on ICE, you will have an enjoyable viewing experience.
3. Versatility: The ability to stream in multiple ways across multiple hosts is virtually unheard of AND be able to download it too.
4. Ease of use: Hands down the most organized site of its kind. You can see everything that was good on this week in pretty pictures in the middle. You can see it posted on the sides. Up to the minute posting of whats been linked on front. Fully searchable via keyword, alphabetical, rated, added, etc etc etc. IMDB links, Preview links. I mean what else could you ask for.
5. Selection: Sure it doesn't have EVERYTHING but no site does anymore. MEGA gave millions access to damn near everything you could think of and it was the primary provider for ICE links. Since that catastrophic event, ICE had to completely repopulate the site. They have done an outstanding job keeping us current with all of our favorite stuff as well as dedicating time to get older things back.
6. Timeliness: Shows are up within minutes of being on air. Movies are added the moment that a high quality version hits the net. If you are looking for a new movie release, check ICE, if its not there you know automatically that the only versions out there are cams on torrent sites.
7. No sharing: There is no need nor requirement to seed. Nuff said.
8. Trust: You never have to hesitate before clicking a content link. No redirect, no spam, no BS. I have used this site for years and never had a single issue.
I understand those of you who want to share links to content or other sites as a "freedom of information" standpoint. However, there are 2 valid reasons as to why this is hurtful.
First, by allowing people to post links to other sites, you open up a huge can of worms. Are the links trustworthy? Do they ask you to download so called special "players"? Do you get taken to a dating site? God forbid you get linked into a hellhole that the average person wouldn't be able to fix. It dilutes the quality of the information and degrades this sites integrity.
Lastly, if I made a site like ICE, I would love to have a lot of traffic. The problem is that I wouldnt want every grandma and 2 year old to be able to pop right in. I wouldn't want my site posted all over the net and draw unwanted attention. As Repdaddy's Daddy! (i think) pointed out in another post, by listing other sites on here, we could endanger their sustainability.
Freedom, whether it be of information or any other analogy, needs to be handled with responsibility. Your freedom of speech/information can be expressed in many other places. A site like ICE removes posts or bans people when it has a harmful effect on the community. If you want to be a troll, go play WOW or something.
P.S. Those of you who complain about the movie industry suffering are funny as hell to me. What are you doing on a site like this anyway? Go spend time with your kids or grab a beer if your life is so sad.
