The following is a repost regarding some questions asked about why ICEFILMS was down, after which there is a poll:
I too am a long time user of ICEFILMS - and a financial supporter too
I think its a great site, way better than many others, the quality of the links has always been a big one for me
BUT..
Getting pretty tired of the sites attitude towards the users, not to mention the amount of trolls in the forums attacking even the most constructive of criticism.
Is icefilms a community website built on the idea of freely sharing media? A place for friends to share movies; supported by advertising dollars?
OR
Is icefilms a piracy business built to make a quick dollar selling advertisements, closed off to any criticism and afraid of competition?
All I know is that whenever anyone even mentions going to another site (or God forbid links to one) they are BANNED for "promoting competitors". That doesnt feel like freedom, that doesnt feel like a community. That feels a lot more like heavy handed business practice intended to maintain their market share of ad revenue.
Community and free distribution of materials (aka filesharing) HAS NO COMPETITION!
So no, we are not demanding information. (I understand that realistically the mods dont want to post private info on a public forum), but I would like to politely ask the mods, and the users to be a little kinder in their posts. Unbanning the many people that have shared 'competing links' would be a nice first step.
And fyi, I am not saying that I will no longer donate to the site, RATHER I am asking to know what I have been donating to:
A community for filesharers?
Or a piracy for profit enterprise?
Unbanning the many people that have shared 'competing links' in the forums and chats would be a good indication of what kind of online community we are a part of
POLL QUESTION
What do you think of ICEfilms policy of banning those who would share links from other file sharing sites? Please vote and leave your comments below
The goal is to make icefilms an even better site (more donations!!!)
