I'm on board with the majority here. The people who work to bring us this site should be supported and encouraged with positive comments to come back soon rather than " If this was my site ...i'd be doing this..." well piss off then and ,ake up your own site and stop telling the people of Icefilms how to do what they do best, and that is by keeping this site running full stop. So many titans have been taken down and others have limped back with next to nothing to offer (Demoniod anyone?) I for one early await the return of icefilms and I am missing it very much (more than I ought to admit) but I will go through and dust off some of my dvd collection and watch some old classics and stream some tv shows here and there until their fateful return. and has it ever occurred to you that by providing blow by blow accounts of current status could actually be quite damaging? I don' t need to know the in's and out - exercise patience - learn a little about yourself and then rejoice when the good times roll. x sorry for the typos - just back from office xmas party. x

Thank you poopyhead. If you cant see we are little Busy! That is why I posted the article.I put this forum up so we could get the message out. Apparently it was enough for the 24k+ people that chkd this out, and the other 130+ that signed in with kudos. Thank you so much for all the work you all put into this, I think the original poster is probably just worried you all were being attacked and didn't know exactly how to find the information. I just got on and wanted to thank you all for not giving up, and I have no suggestions for how you run your site honestly; it's pretty well done. @serg ... Ninjavideo sucked at the time because there wasn't a lot of access outside of Ninja to the normal user, today it's much different. I'm still going to visit here regularly there are features here and quite frankly the overall site is WAY better than Ninjavideo ever was... But I haven't missed a beat there is a lot of avenues out there today for this type of content. I just happen to think Ice does it pretty damn good. Thanks again, it will be nice to see y'all back again.

All that Kudo did was ask a question. Wouldn't it just be easier to ignore it rather then personally attack the guy. He asked questions all of us have wondered but didnt ask for whatever reason. I have used icefilms forever and this is just part of the game. You learn to deal with it. But there sure is no reason to get nasty with the guy. Some of you guys had the same thought but instead give the guy crap so you can look good on the forum. I have seen it all. The correct answer was given by the mod without a personal attack on the guy. Now if Kudo doesn't like it, he can shut up and stay or leave, that simple.

icefilms isn't exactly legal so why post a thread like this? obviously at points there's going to be problems, just look at what's happened with piratebay all the time. they're always back though, that's just part of life when you choose to get things the free way

Teens of this generation need to be feed constant information/stimulus-Skype, Twitter, RSS feed, ect ect...Stimulus, it's like a drug for most. Gimme info gimme info gimme info, I'm not surpried. The Op just needs some patience, as quite a few have shown. Myself, I've lurked at Ice for a looong time, I've said thanks very infrequently-then again I've never complained. Complaining is like trying to talk a pig into flying, you will just waste your time and piss off the pig.

Kudos sense of entitlement is whats wrong with member forums and kids in general these days...it pisses me off. He's not just asking questions, he's being a spoiled kid who's threatening to take his hard earned ad clicking somewhere else...go go go and take it then ! Have you forgotten what icefilms is? It's not a Netflix where you call customer service and complain...
@kudo /- The site comes up when it does, there is no time to answer your detailed thesis asking how icefilms is going to avoid this in the future... -- go start your own icefilms and be a superstar, stay out of here demanding answers...

Hey guys, long time user, first time poster. I'm making this thread because it appears there is a major lack of communication on this forum, while granted it's just a temp. board, no doubt thousands of people like myself are coming here wondering whats going on, only to find one line posts and very little serious information about what happened. That being said, I believe it was a DDoS attack but I could be wrong, personally I would appreciate a chime in from the admins as to why this sudden downtime occurred, furthermore, given the nature of the site and traffic, it does lead one to ask why redundant backup solutions are not in place? For example it would be pretty simple to run multiple shard instances and a dns failover solution. All in all, personally, I would just like an update on a few things: - Why did icefilms go down
- When will it be back up
- How will you prepare for this circumstance again?
I ask these questions because for the first time in a long long time, I was forced to use another provider, which got me thinking why come back to icefilms at all if this is going to be the situation with them every time an attack hits?
Don't take this the wrong way and start spamming the thread with 'we didn't need you anyway' posts - just trying to give the average user perspective.
In conclusion I recommend a cloud backup solution, putting your forum domain on a separate server, and hosting from OVH - But most of all I recommend active communication about every step of the process for your users. With love for my icefilms, do not go silently into the night. -Kuro
